History Of Dragon Gym

Dragon Gym Martial Arts & Fitness has a rich history rooted in martial arts tradition and a deep commitment to community, personal growth, and fitness. It was founded in the early 1970s by Grandmaster Chae T. Goh, a martial artist and instructor originally from South Korea. Grandmaster Goh brought his knowledge of Taekwondo, Hapkido, and other martial arts to the United States and established Dragon Gym in Exton, Pennsylvania, with a focus on teaching discipline, self-defense, and the principles of martial arts to students of all ages.

Over the decades, Dragon Gym expanded its offerings, evolving from a traditional martial arts school into a comprehensive fitness and self-improvement center. Under the leadership of Somnath Sikdar, Lonnie Beck, and other senior instructors, Dragon Gym now operates multiple locations across Chester County, PA, including in Malvern, Berwyn, Phoenixville, and Exton.

Today, Dragon Gym offers programs in Taekwondo, Hapkido, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), personal training, kettlebell classes, and small group fitness. The gym caters to children, adults, and families, providing a supportive environment focused on helping students become healthier, more confident, and more disciplined.

Dragon Gym has remained a cornerstone of the community by balancing tradition with modern training methods, making it a respected institution for both martial arts excellence and overall fitness.
